Maria, a Domestic Violence Victim on Cafe Con Leche

María (a petición de ella no publicamos el apellido), estuvo en Cafe Con Leche el jueves, 15 de junio del 2016.  Maria vive en el Valle del Antílope y fue víctima de Violencia Doméstica. Ella vino hace 17 años  a los Estados Unidos, con su esposo y su hija de un año. desde el Estado de Hidalgo, Mexico  Nos contó algunos de los signos de violencia doméstica y el efecto que tuvo sobre sus hijos. Todos ellos están recibiendo terapia.

María, después de mucho tiempo, comenzó a denunciar el abuso a la policía. Había ordenes de restriccion que fueron desobedecidas. Ahora ella vive solo con sus hijos y se siente optimista sobre el futuro. Maria va a  continuar su educación que fue interrumpida como parte de la relación de control. Seguiremos vigilando a María.

Maria (last name held on request), was on Cafe Con Leche on Thursday, June 15, 2016.  She lives in the Antelope Valley and was a victim of Domestic Violence. She came 17 years ago from Hidalgo, Mexico with her husband and her one year old daughter. She told us some of the signs of domestic violence and the effect on her children. They are all now receiving therapy.

Maria, after a long time, started to report the abuse to the police. There were order restrictions that were disobeyed. Now she is living only with her children and she feel optimistic about the future. She will continue her education that was interrupted as a part of the controlling relationship. We will keep tabs on Maria.
